He comes from a talent rich school, but he's the only knight on the South roster, making Tyler Sansom's inclusion in the WCHS-TV/FOX 11 North-South game a true honor.
"Ever since I was a freshman I saw all kinds of players go from Cabell Midland. Tyler Bartley and all those players, and I've always wanted to, it's just a really big honor. To be the only selected is a big deal," said Sansom.
Cabell Midland went 3-7 last year, putting a bit of a damper on Sansom's senior campaign, but he says his ride as a knight was one to remember.
"This year we got new turf and everyone is all excited and we went 3 and 7," he said. "So its pretty disappointing, but still had some good times out here."
Sansom leaves as the school's all-time leader in touchdowns, quite the accomplishment considering all the big names that have out of Midland.
"In the paper my sophomore year they wrote, 'Can this guy fill the void?' So, hopefully I fulfilled the void successfully that he left."
Sansom will take his talents to WV State next season, and despite the Yellowjackets going winless a year ago, he thinks everything is going in the right direction.
"I just thinks its a great honor especially for my size, i don't have good football size," he said. "I'm just glad they gave me an opportunity to play for them."
Sansom will have one more game in his prep career, and he would like to leave his mark as a winner.
"Couple touchdowns would be nice," he said. "I would like to get a win in there, too. I don't think we won a game in our last 5 games so it would be nice to go out with a win."
