Some familiar faces are heading back to the West Virginia Girls State Basketball Tournament this week in Charleston at the Civic Center Coliseum.
For some others, their appearance brings to end a long dry spell.
Man heads back in the Class A field for the first time since 2008. The Lady Billies are the No. 8 seed and will collide with four-time defending state champ St. Joseph at 5:30 Wednesday.
While Man's drought is long enough, consider it has been 10 years for Spring Valley and 11 for Capital.
Those two will meet at 7:15 on Wednesday in an opening round AAA showdown. Spring Valley is the top seed while Capital, with a losing record at 10-13, is seeded No. 8.
Meanwhile, the last time Valley Fayette played in the State Tournament the event was staged in the fall. First-year head coach Richard Cantrell brings a Lady Greyhound squad to the tournament for the first time since 1992.
Hear what these coaches have to say heading into their opening round matchups.
All four Class A games will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Two AAA games take place on Wednesday at 11:15 and 7:15.
The four Class AA quarterfinals will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. The other two AAA games will be at 11:15 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.
The semifinals are Friday with the three championships on Saturday.
