West Virginia's basketball team needed a signature win.
They almost got it Monday night at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. The Kansas Jayhawks, the county's No. 2 ranked team, rolled into Morgantown and managed to fend off the Mountaineers, 61-56.
WVU got double figure scoring from Aaric Murray and Juwan Staten with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
WVU falls to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. Kansas's win gives the Jayhawks the nations longest winning streak at 18. KU is 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the Big 12.
WVU heads to Texas Tech this Saturday.
Meanwhile, UC was a winner of Alderson-Broaddus to stop a two-game losing streak. State's men fell to Wheeling Jesuit.
