The Mountaineers captured wins on back-to-back nights. One evening after WVU's women topped Marshall, the men did the same.
In a grind-it-out affair at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum, WVU was a winner 69-59 over the Herd. Playing in his last Classic, Deniz Kilicli led the way for WVU with 21. Meanwhile, D.D Scarver was Marshall's top scorer with 17 in what was his first showdown with Mountaineers.
The win moves WVU to 3-3 on the season, while Marshall drops to 5-4. WVU leads the all-time series, 30-11. Mountaineer teams have won 17 at the Coliseum.
