Nicholas County's Grizzlies are where no football team at the Summersville-based school has ever been before. The second round of the West Virginia High School football playoffs.
The No. 9 Grizzlies defeated No. 8 Ritchie County last Friday, 31-7, for the school's first-ever postseason win. It was a victory in the opening round of Class AA.
After spending several years in Class AAA, this is Nicholas County's first year at the Class AA level and now the Grizzlies will face No. 1 Wayne Friday night at Pioneer Field. Wayne, the defending state champs, will enter the game at 11-0.
