Last year the University of Charleston started slow out of the gates.
Not this time.
For a second straight Thursday the Golden Eagles won a game on their home turf - UC Stadium - downing St. Joseph's of Indiana, 33-14.
What's more impressive is UC did for much of the game without quarterback Maurice Leak and star running back Jordan Roberts, who did score two touchdowns in the first half before calling it a night.
Leak is dealing with a bum ankle and Roberts fought illness most of the week.
At 2-0 UC now hits the road for its first West Virginia Conference game of the year next Saturday against Concord.
Meanwhile, Glenville defeated Fairmont State, 41-21, in the league's first head-to-head matchup of the year.
Meanwhile, State hopes to make it two straight by taking on North Carolina A & T. Marshall prepares for Western Carolina and WVU plans more snaps from under center this season.
