Say so long to an old friend.
The West Virginia Conference will be no more starting with the 2013-14 school year.
Nine members from the conference are moving on to help form the new Mountain East Conference. The University of Charleston, West Virginia State, Concord, Glenville, Fairmont, Shepherd, West Liberty, West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit will be a part of the new league.
They will be joined by Notre Dame of Ohio, Urbana, Ohio and Virginia-Wise.
Alderson Broaddus is joining the Great Midwest while Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill are moving to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
That leaves Davis & Elkins, Ohio Valley and Bluefield State searching for new homes.
