All but one of the higher seeded teams won games on quarterfinal round Thursday in the 73rd annual West Virginia Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.
No. 1 West Liberty, No. 2 West Virginia State and No. 3 Alderson-Broaddus advanced, while the University of Charleston, a No. 5 seed, upended No. 4 Fairmont State.
A-B and State will play at 6:30 on Friday at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum, while UC meets West Liberty in the nightcap at 8:30. The women's semifinals are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Thursday was also an evening of girls high school regional and boys sectional basketball action.
