This year, add vomiting and fainting to the mix. Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe says most of the contestants from the East Coast did not realize how dry Los Angeles is, and they failed to stay hydrated. He says contestant Amy Brumfield, AKA "Tent Girl," brought a virus with her and it spread like wildfire. Lythgoe says one contestant literally fell off the stage. He says they only have a wide shot of that because the cameraman closest to her tried to catch her. Hollywood Week starts tonight on "Idol."
Los Angeles coroner's officials have ruled "Soul Train" founder Don Cornelius died of suicide. His body was found last week with a gunshot wound to the head. Toxicology tests are pending. Police quickly ruled out foul play. Madonna Will Tour Madonna has announced a world tour that will begin May 29 in Tel Aviv. She'll bring the tour to the U.S. beginning with August 28 in Philadelphia. Tickets go on sale for the American dates on Monday. Madonna's album, "MDNA," will hit stores March 26. Simon Cowell Blames His "Big Mouth" For "X Factor" Ratings Simon Cowell still has not worked out who the new mentors will be on "The X Factor." Cowell tells "Extra" Fox executives told him at the beginning of the year he had to fire Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger right away. He denies that he's considering Beyonce' as a new mentor. He says he'd love to have Mariah Carey but she's got two small children, he thinks Madonna would be "great" but "expensive," and Katy Perry "would be fun -- and she's feisty." Coast Guard Honors Sean Kingston's Rescuer The Coast Guard is honoring one of its own for rescuing Sean Kingston. The Coast Guard has awarded its Silver Lifesaving Medal on Petty Officer Third Class John Rivera. He was off duty on his personal boat on May 29 when Kingston's personal watercraft hit a bridge near Miami. Rivera jumped in to keep Kingston afloat until other rescuers arrived. Keys, Raitt, Brown, Bennett And Underwood Added To Grammys Chris Brown, Deadmau5, Foo Fighters, David Guetta and Lil Wayne -- that's quite a lineup right there. Now have them performing all together. That's what they'll do for the Grammys, in a special performance highlighting electronica. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt will pay tribute to Etta James at the Grammys. Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood will sing together as well. The lineup also includes Adele, Paul McCartney, Bruno Mars, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Taylor Swift and Coldplay with Rihanna. The Grammys will be Sunday in Los Angeles and shown live on CBS. Paul McCartney, Elton John Will Perform For Queen's Jubilee Celebration Paul McCartney, Elton John and Tom Jones will help Queen Elizabeth celebrate her diamond jubilee, marking her 60 years on the throne. They will perform in front of Buckingham Palace on July 4. Shirley Bassey and Cliff Richard will also perform, and more performers will be added in the coming months. Gary Barlow of the British boy band Take That is organizing the event, and he's gotten suggestions from Prince Harry and Prince William. Officials say the queen is "content" with the musical program. Train Will Release Album, Wine Train are releasing a new album and a new wine. They will release "California 37" on April 17. It's the follow-up to their 2009 release, "Save Me, San Francisco." They will also unveil the latest wine variety from their Save Me, San Francisco Wine Company. It's a cabernet sauvignon called California 37. They also have wines called Drops of Jupiter Petit Syrah and Calling All Angels Chardonnay. A portion of the wine sales go to a charity that helps seriously ill children. |
