Yellow Rice

You saw it Monday, February 21, 2000 during Eyewitness News at Noon.


A wonderful side dish with pork or chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 t. turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans


    • Put all together in saucepan, except pecans, and cook over low heat, covered, for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.

    The last minute or so of cooking time, add the pecans.

    Careful! Turmeric causes stains very easily.
