Bavarian Apple Torte You saw it Monday, October 25, 1999 during Eyewitness News at Noon. This recipe is for a delicous and easy Bavarian Apple Torte. You'll need a springform pan for this one , but I would think that you might also be able to use a deep dish pie pan just as well. The crust in this dessert tastes almost like a cookie and the cream cheese layer reminds me of cheesecake. Sounds good already doesn't it? Ingredients Instructions Cream margarine, 1/3 cup sugar, and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough onto bottom and l l/2 to 2 inches around the sides of a 9 inch springform pan. (Use floured hands) Combine softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar and mix well. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Pour into pastry lined pan. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon and toss apples in the sugar mixture. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer. Bake at 450 degrees for l0 minutes, reduce heat to 400 degrees and bake for about 25 more minutes until done. You might want to cover loosely with foil the last l0 minutes if crust gets done too quickly. Cool before removing rim of pan. 6 servings More Good Morning West Virginia and Eyewitness News at Noon Recipes
