CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Heath Harrison, Jeff Morris ) -- Freedom Industries President Gary Southern gave an abbreviated news conference in Charleston on Friday in which he apologized for the chemical spill that has disrupted water service in nine West Virginia counties.

“We are very, very sorry for disruption of everyone’s daily life,” Southern said.

Southern maintained the company tries to be transparent in its operations and has been focusing its attention on the crisis since it happened.

When pressed for specifics, he repeatedly attempted to end the news conference. At one point, he tried to walk away, but Eyewitness News Anchor/Reporter Kallie Cart told him that, “We’re not done yet,” and Southern returned to answer more questions.

The video accompanying this story is the first of two parts of the news conference.
