I-77 Rock Slidefrom Eyewitness News Online Rock Slide On I-77 North Near The Virginia Border Captured On Video March 21, 2013
A rock slide has caused plenty of headaches in the Bluefield area, closing the northbound lanes of Interstate 77 mile marker 3.
A contractor is bringing equipment to the site and will be working through the night, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Transportation. Workers will use the equipment to push more debris down the slope. Concrete barriers have been installed slow lane to contain the debris. The accident happened about 10 a.m. Wednesday near the Virginia border. Video accompanying this story from the Department of Transportation shows the rock slide as it happened.
