Steve Borecky: WCHS-TV Eyewitness News

After being a Buckeye my entire life, I now have the privilege of calling myself a Mountaineer.

Before moving to Charleston, I lived all over the state of Ohio and also spent a summer in sunny SW Florida. I was born and raised on the west side of Cleveland before I moved to Athens in September, 2001 to attend Ohio University (Go Bobcats!). While enrolled in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, I got my first taste of TV news. I worked on two live news shows and got to try all the different jobs in the newsroom. During summer breaks, I also completed internships in Fort Myers, FL and Cleveland.

After four fun-filled years, I graduated from OU in June 2005 and soon took a job in Zainesville, OH as a reporter. I started off reporting the daily news and also anchoring the nightly and Saturday morning AM and FM newscasts. The month before I left, I was promoted to Weekend Anchor. I then rang in 2006 by moving into my new apartment in Charleston, and I've been chasing West Virginia news ever since.

I come from a loving, tight knit family. I have two sisters who are still in college in Ohio, and both of my parents still live in the house where I grew up. Without all of their support, who knows if I'd be reporting the news in Charleston today. The rest of my friends and family also live in the Cleveland area, and I always look forward to seeing them when I get the chance to make the drive back home.

In my free time, I enjoy getting to know my new surroundings in Charleston and also spending time outdoors. Whether I'm hitting the ball around on the tennis court, playing softball or rollerblading, I enjoy it all. And I can't forget to mention how much I love to watch college and professional sporting events. I am also finishing my meteorology degree through Mississippi State University's online program, so I can someday go back to forecasting the weather.
