Rick Lord photo Hello! I really don't know why you want to know about me, But I'll tell you what I can. I hate writing these things, because for the most part, I'm no different than you.

While I now consider my a West Virginian, I was raised in frigid Phoenix, Arizona, where the temperature often drops below 75 degrees in the cold winter months. To further my education, I attended what is widely regarded as the Harvard of the West.... that's right, THE Arizona State University...hehehe. Somehow, my work at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication caught the attention of FoxSports Arizona producers, who hired me as a football sideline reporter. Luckily, one of my stories won a national award from the Society of Professional Journalists (First Place- Sports Reporting.) I still don't know how I scammed my way into that one! I was able to parlay my work at ASU and with FoxSports into a job at WOAY in Oak Hill/Beckley in 2000. After about a year there, I came to WCHS to work with Mark Martin (the classiest, most professional guy EVER.) Some of you may remember my work as a Weekend Sports Anchor back then; it was truly one of the best times of my life. In October, 2002, an opportunity arose to work in the news department at WSYX in Columbus, Ohio. Since the big news story every day there that fall was the Buckeyes run to the national championship, it was a seamless transition for me. Following a year of honing my "news" skills, and missing West Virginia, I returned to WCHS to co-anchor the 6,10, and 11 o'clock newscasts in September, 2003. I've been here ever since!

Now, a little about me. I enjoy watching classic American films. Only the finest cinematic works will do, though. I need gripping dialogue, complex characters, and diverse plot-lines. Dumb and Dumber and Caddyshack are two of my favorites. I also enjoy playing terrible golf, dabbling in culinary arts, pretending I have a palate for wine, and learning as much as humanly possible from people who know way more than I do. Between those endeavors, I spend every waking hour with my wife Brooke trying to break the bad habits of our two neurotic fur-kids, Coco and Paco.

Of course, my job here is to bring you the news YOU care about, and the best way to do that is by listening to what YOU have to say. Please feel free to e-mail or Facebook me with any comments, suggestions, or story ideas! Thanks for taking the time to read about me, now let me know about YOU. See you soon!
