Jake Glance I am a West Virginia Mountaineer, born and raised!

After living in the Fairmont area for more than 20 years, I have returned to where I was born: The Capital City.

I spent the first few years of my life in Kanawha City, before my family and I moved to Marion County in the early 1980's. I lived in Barrackville (for more information on Barrackville, check out the program for the state boys basketball tournament!), and went to North Marion High School and then West Virginia University. I studied broadcast news, and anchored and produced the award winning student program WVU News.

In 1998 while at WVU, I began my broadcasting career. I learned how to turn on the microphone at WRLF-FM in Fairmont (thanks, Shotgun Bill Dunn), where I did a morning show and high school basketball play-by-play and commentary.

It wasn't until July of 2001 I turned to television. After working at WDTV NewsChannel 5 in Bridgeport for just a few months, I moved up to anchoring and producing the morning and noon shows.

I came to WCHS in June of 2004, and plan to spend a long time in the Kanawha Valley. It is, after all, my home!

I have covered my share of big news stories, including Presidential visits, a one-on-one interview with vice presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards, Martha Stewart going to Alderson Prison Camp, the Jessica Lynch homecoming, and flooding in the southern coalfields. I have been honored with several West Virgina Associated Press awards. The first award I received at WCHS was for continued coverage of the disappearance and death of Brandi Bragg, the granddaughter of Powerball winner Jack Whittaker.

I love the Mountain State. When I'm not in front of the camera, I'm out enjoying everything this state has to offer. I love to fish, hike, play golf, and just about anything else that can be done outdoors. My favorite spots are the mountains of Pocahontas, Tucker, and Pendleton Counties. I also love to play and listen to music (I'm a Bob Dylan fanatic!), and spend time with my family.

I also love to hear from people. Drop me a note, I'll respond.
