Gilbert Corsey: WCHS-TV Eyewitness News

I joined the Eyewitness News team as an Anchor/Reporter in April of 2009 enthused about learning the Mountain State. I quickly learned this state is filled with remarkable people. I say this because less than a month after I started, spring floods hammered the region. I've covered severe weather before but never destruction and despair like I saw in the Southern Coalfields. In turn our community jumped into action giving of themselves to help neighbors get back on their feet. It was unlike anything I'd seen in my career.

I started reporting in Abilene, Texas and specialized in education stories. That work earned 1st place honors from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for beat reporting. Next it was Eastern North Carolina. I split my time anchoring news and sports as well as producing and reporting.

When I'm not on the job I try to get home and see my family. They're in Washington State. I'm the second of two kids in a family of four. I graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University and am a proud member of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. I've moved a lot over the past few years but I count it a blessing as in each place I learn little more about people, a little more about myself and a little more about storytelling.

There are very few times in life when people get the perfect job. When you do what you love and work doesn't even seem like work. I'm lucky. I have that job now. Everyday I get to share the story of the human experience. If you have a story or experience I can share just send me an email!
