Darrah Wilcox photo I am thrilled to be back near my friends and family, and excited to be a part of the Eyewitness News team I grew up watching!

I graduated magna cum laude from Marshall University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and minors in Political Science and Spanish. I was born and raised in the Westmoreland community of Huntington and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 2001.

During my time at Marshall, I interned with the Money and Politics editor at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh and WSAZ in Huntington, and started my professional career at WDTV in Bridgeport. There, I spent a few years as a one-man-band reporter, covering the Morgantown area, then as fill-in weekend anchor and finishing my stint there as the co-anchor for the Daybreak and Midday shows.

I joined the Eyewitness News team in September 2009 to start my day bright and early as the morning reporter on Eyewitness News this morning. In that position, I covered everything from major snowstorms, flooding, and even tornadoes in Athens, Ohio to WVU fans at the Final Four in Indianapolis. Days after that road trip, I was in Raleigh County, covering the tragic Upper Big Branch mine disaster that killed 29 men. In March, morning photographer Chad Hypes and I won a West Virginia Broadcaster's Association award for Best Spot News coverage on a fatal, fiery crash on the interstate days before Christmas. We won a breaking news award from the Associated Press for the same story.

In September 2010, I got the chance to move back to my hometown of Huntington. That's where you'll find me and photographer Chris Mazivanhanga, covering anything and everything in the tri-state area. Check out our brand new segments each Friday, Revolution Recipe at 7:00 a.m. on WVAH and Eyewitness News at Noon on WCHS. Friday nights, we'll see how far the Food Revolution has spread in "Food Revolution Now" at 6:00 and 10:00 p.m.

In my spare time, I love to travel, and have been to Spain, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. I also like trying out new recipes, reading, cheering on the Herd, Mountaineers (unless they're playing Marshall) and the Steelers, working with the American Heart Association and WV Susan G. Komen For the Cure, and playing with my adorable and ornery Yorkie, Tron.
