Brandon Stover photo Being born and raised in Kanawha County, I am proud to call myself a West Virginia native.

I graduated from Sissonville High School in 2003 and went on to study meteorology at West Virginia State University, where I obtained an associate degree in atmospheric sciences. After that, I finished up my meteorological education at Mississippi State University, where I graduated with a broadcast meteorology degree.

The weather has been a strong passion of mine since I was a young child. In fact, watching cartoons was usually replaced with the Weather Channel or WCHS weathercasts. Although I respectfully feared the weather, I was simply fascinated by the power of it, too. Some notable weather events that I will always remember in the Charleston area and remember tracking while growing up are:
  • April 1991 Derecho

  • March 1993 Superstorm Blizzard

  • June 1998 Tornadic Supercells

  • November 2002 Veterans Day Tornado Outbreak Ohio Valley

Although I can't guarantee a perfect forecast all of the time, of course (still won't stop me from trying, though), I can guarantee complete devotion and time in regards to alerting the public to dangerous weather situations. I hope to bring this entire region accurate and reliable weather information. I feel very blessed knowing that my job also is my hobby.

Before I came to WCHS, I spent nearly two years as the morning meteorologist at WDTV in Bridgeport/Clarksburg. Although I learned invaluable tools there and made some good friends, I was ecstatic to come back home and have an opportunity with WCHS, a station I grew up watching!

When I'm not tracking the weather or doing some news reporting, I love watching and playing sports, so you can pretty much call me a sports junkie. Football, basketball, golf and baseball are my favorite sports. Although I respect and wish all in-state schools well, my heart belongs to the West Virginia University Mountaineers. I've rooted for WVU through thick and thin since I was about 5 years old, no matter the record or ranking. Hopefully, one day, the Mountaineers can obtain one of those coveted national titles. Finally, I also love to travel, particularly across the southeastern United States, and to spend time with family and friends.

Thanks for reading and feel free to send me a question or comment anytime. Take Care.
