Obama plans trip to Cleveland next Wednesday

CLEVELAND
President Barack Obama is planning another trip to Ohio in this midterm election year, this time taking him to Cleveland.



In a brief statement, the White House says the president will be in the city on Wednesday to talk about the economy.

The economy also dominated the president's last visit to Ohio, in mid-August. He told neighbors gathered in a Columbus backyard that the economy is coming around "slowly but surely."

Polls show voters are skittish about the sagging economy _ and generally leaning toward the GOP in this fall's elections.

The Republican National Committee belittled the president's plans as kicking off a "Recovery Fall" tour following what it called a failed "Recovery Summer" of high unemployment.
