from Eyewitness News Online  Cincinnati considers stricter rules on scrap metal February 08, 2012 5:58 AM CINCINNATI Cincinnati would have some of Ohio's toughest rules on scrap metal dealings under a proposal supported by several City Council members. It's aimed at reducing thefts of metal sold to make money. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports people who regularly recycle metal at a city scrap yard would have to undergo a criminal background check and pay $100 or more for an annual license. A council committee heard Tuesday from more than two dozen commenters, including some who say they sell scrap metal to pay for food and other expenses. A recycling business representative testified that hundreds of area scrappers said in a survey they'd take their business outside Cincinnati if the regulations pass.
