A Hearty, Delicious Thanksgiving Recipe November 21, 2011
Here we are in the week of Thanksgiving, getting ready for those hearty, delicious recipes. Here is a terrific Sweet Potato side dish straight from Ohio's Amish Country. It's the perfect place to find this gold star recipe.
Ingredients 8 small/medium sweet potatoes, peeled, cooked & mashed (I used 4 really large sweet potatoes) 1/3 cup sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/3 cup butter, softened or melted pinch of salt Topping: 1 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/3 cup cold butter 1 cup chopped walnuts Directions Preheat oven to 350° F. Combine & beat together sweet potatoes, sugar, eggs, vanilla, butter and salt. Pour into greased 1 1/2 or 2 quart casserole dish. Make the topping. Combine brown sugar and flour. Cut in cold butter.
