Make Ahead Breakfast Dish

This is a super make-ahead breakfast dish. Served with bacon or sausage and some lovely maple syrup it is caramel heaven!
Overnight Caramel French Toast
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 T. light corn syrup
12 slices white or whole wheat bread
1/4 cup sugar
1 t. cinnamon – divided
1-1/2 cup milk
1 t. vanilla
In a small saucepan over medium heat combine brown sugar, butter & corn syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Pour caramel mixture into a greased 13x9-baking dish.
Top with 6 slices of bread. Combine sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle 1/2 the sugar mixture over bread.
Place remaining 6 slices of bread on top first layer of bread.
Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla & remaining cinnamon. Pour over bread.
Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight.
Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
Bake uncovered at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
