Chocolate bar cookies with cool minty goodness March 7, 2011
These bars are so good the last time I made them I did two batches within 3 days! Our family loves the Special Dark Hershey's Syrup, it makes them very rich and gives a deep chocolate flavor.
Ingredients For the cookie base 1/2 cup butter, softened 4 eggs 1-1/4 cup Hershey's syrup (regular or Special Dark) 1 cup Thesco or all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder For the mint layer 1/2 cup butter, softened 2 cup powdered sugar 1 tablespoon milk 1 teaspoon peppermint extract several drops of green food coloring For the chocolate topping 1/2 cup butter 1 lb. chocolate chips Directions Mix the cookie base ingredients and press into a 15"x10"x1" cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until done. Chill completely. While the cookies are cooling, mix the ingredients for the mint layer. Spread mint layer over the bars and refrigerate until firm. Melt together the butter and chocolate chips for the topping. Spread evenly over the green layer. Refrigerate until chocolate firms. Cut into bars. Makes: 2 dozen bars Got Questions?
