from Eyewitness News Online Dunlap wants guilty plea February 09, 2010 1:56 PM SMITHLAND, Ky.
A western Kentucky man accused of killing three children and assaulting their mother is telling a judge he wants to plead guilty to the charges. Jury selection in Kevin Wayne Dunlap's triple-murder trial was set to begin on Wednesday. The Kentucky New Era reports that Dunlap wants to halt the trial by pleading guilty to the 11 charges, including murder, rape, kidnapping and arson. Dunlap told Circuit Judge C.A. Woodall on Tuesday that he wants to plead guilty because "it's what I feel is right." Woodall rejected Dunlap's attempt to plead guilty but mentally ill. Dunlap is accused of killing a 5-year-old boy and the child's 14- and 17-year-old sisters and attacking their mother at their home in rural Trigg County. Dunlap's attorney, James Gibson, declined to comment when reached Tuesday. Information from: Kentucky New Era, http://www.kentuckynewera.com |
