Verizon Cuts 8,000 People to be Laid Off
More layoffs are coming at Verizon Communications. The telecom company made the announcement this morning after posting a lower second quarter profit. Verizon says it will cut eight-thousand jobs in its wireline unit. That's in addition to the eight-thousand employees cut last year. The job cuts will affect employees and contract workers.
Housing Market Improves Signs of Recovery? Could the housing market being showing signs of recovery? According to the Commerce Department, new homes sales surged in June to their highest rate this year, even as prices continue to stumble. Sales rose 11-percent over the previous month and that was far better than analysts were expecting and the largest monthly gain in nine years. Mocha Mondays Free Mochas at McDonalds
Two words that sound great on a Monday morning: free coffee. McDonald's is continuing its free "Mocha Mondays." That's where you get a free mocha from seven a-m to seven p-m. Micky Dees is trying to promote its new line of premium espresso drinks with this move. The promotion runs to Monday August third.
