There was an unusual amount of noise inside the Cabell County Library Wednesday as local businesses competed in a small business competition.

Prime on 4th, Butter It Up and Ricky-Bobby’s Art Deli made presentations to the crowd of more than 20 people as part of the Entrepreneur’s Café.

Each business was judged by a “Shark Tank” style panel. A $300 prize went to the business that the panel thought had the best chance of success. Butter It Up took the win this round.

Attendees pay $15 to attend the café; $5 of it goes to pay for the cost of food and the remaining $10 goes into a pot for the winning business. Everyone there gets a vote after the presentations are finished.

Unlimited Future Inc. and Generation Huntington teamed up to put the event on, which representatives said is essential to small business growth.

"It is really important for small businesses to be able to have a footprint in the cyber world and with marketing and different things so this gives them access to that type of funding,” Ursulette Huntley of Unlimited Future Inc. said. “Without marketing and advertising they really can't get their business of the ground."

The cafe is held about every other month at various spots around Huntington.
