A dentist office in Putnam County is offering free dental care Wednesday for county children ages 12 and under.

The West Virginia Healthy Kids Drive event is being hosted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. by Wilson Martino Dental at 3568 Teays Valley Road in Hurricane, according to a news release from the organizers.

The free dental care includes routine hygiene exam and cleaning, X-rays, fluoride and any dental work that can be performed during the event such as fillings, stainless steel crowns and resins.

To participate, parents or guardians are encouraged to reserve their child's appointment by calling 304-201-SMILe (7645). Space is limited, so residents are encouraged to call. Some walk-in appointments may be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Informational on children's health insurance will be available, and families will have the opportunity to obtain information about the West Virginia Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), a state funded program which provides dental and health insurance to families based on income levels.
