Cyclists will be rolling through the area as they continue their journey to give back.

The squad will be stopping at the Children’s Therapy Clinic in Cross Lanes at 11 a.m. July 16 for lunch and a friendship visit. The clinic will receive $475 in donations from Push America this year.

This group is cycling as part of Push America’s Journey of Hope, a movement to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

During their friendship visit at the clinic, cyclists will get a chance to see a local business that serves people with disabilities. Adam Phillips, director of marketing, said these visits are the highlight of the trip for cyclists because they get to meet the people for whom they are riding.

Charleston has been one of the stops on the Journey of Hope for several years now. Phillips said routing wise, it makes sense to make the stop, but the organization also has made several good relationships with community members over the years.

Members of Pi Kappa Phi started the 4,200-mile cycling journey of their lives in Seattle and will roll into Washington, D.C., Aug. 2 to mark the end of their journey.

The mission of Push America is to build leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today, according to its website. The cycling event is one of many events the association organizes each summer as part of its fundraising efforts.
