Chesapeake , Kanawha County , West Virginia

A Gallagher, WV man is fighting for his life right now, after a boating accident late Sunday night. Snodgrass’ mother, Lori Snodgrass, told us Monday, her son is in the Intensive Care Unit at CAMC General in Charleston, with a head injury and swelling on the brain.

The family told us they are getting prayers sent from all over. Her son is in the U.S. Army National Guard and that both him and his wife Frances' Facebook pages have been blowing-up with prayers and well-wishes from around the world.

Natural Resources Police Officers said, the boat, which was driven by Steven Garrison, 22, of Winifrede, was headed downstream, when it hit a parked barge, between Chesapeake and Quincy, around 10 o'clock Sunday night. He was hurt, along with passengers Nicole Garrison, of Winifrede and Mary and Blake Snodgrass, both from Gallagher.

Blake remains in critical condition, the others have been treated and released.

This accidents reminds us all, what can happen on the water. Before you take off, you should always get your boat checked for any safety problems. Take a boating class, to learn the rules of the water and remember, barges always have the right of way.

Also be aware of the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, which can happen from exhaust accumulating on board.

If you are the boat's operator, do not drink alcohol.

We still do not know yet what caused the boat Snodgrass was riding in to crash, and/or if anyone faces any charges. His family said they appreciate all the concern and they pray the swelling in their son's brain goes down soon. Right now, it’s a wait and see situation.
