"I just think it's great. Just the whole concept of having senior games allows the senior population to you know challenge themselves, you know get healthier get fit something to set their goals," he said.
The Senior Games are just one part of a whole weekend of fitness-related events that culminate Saturday with the United Day of Fitness.
"We're united in our efforts," United Way River Cities Marketing Director Kaylin Adkins said. "We're united in making sure that the community is healthy and thriving. We really wanted to have this day set aside for that."
The Senior Games will continue, along with the YMCA Family Fun Fest and Concert and and The Herald-Dispatch West Virginia 5K Championship Saturday morning.
"This is an event where runners can be competitive, but also walkers can team up and have a good time," Adkins said.
They're promoting health, wellness and fun for all ages around the Tri-State. "The feeling you get when you're out here is just camaraderie , it's fun," Allen said.
