Charleston police said a man arrested on drug charges was linked to the theft of several yard sculptures and ornaments in the South Hills area.

Police said a witness reported that Christopher Derrick was stealing items from yards including a metal wheel sculpture, a PVC dragon and an animal sculpture.
When police caught up with Derrick, they said, they found meth on him and arrested him.

During an interview, police said he admitted to taking detailed notes about homes and items in the yards of homes in the South Hills area and then returning and taking these lawn items.

The thefts occurred between April 25 and May 14.
