ROCK BRANCH, W.Va. (Chris Williams) -- The Rite Aid warehouse in Rock Branch is closing up shop on November 4th, 2017. The workers union, and Rite Aid have been working on this deal for about two weeks now, and the union president said the majority of workers are pleased with the deal.

The Rite Aid warehouse has been in Rock Branch for decades, and employs more than 200 workers.
In April, the plant announced it was going to close, which came as a shock to the people working here.

"It's tough, very tough. You work this whole time, you're like a family. Ya know, 200 workers,” said warehouse worker Alisa Scott.

Once they decided to close the warehouse, the workers union, Teamsters 175, and Rite Aid began working on a deal to finalize the closing. The original plan was to close the warehouse in the spring of 2016. However, after negotiations, the distribution center is now closing on November 4th, 2017. When the doors shut, more than 200 people are going to be out of work. Those won't be the only people impacted, businesses near the warehouse are also bracing for change.

"It's going to affect us financially because we have a lot of customers that come here daily to get their lunch," said Manager of SAMs Hotdogs Gina Brown.

Brown said anywhere from 10 to 20 people from the warehouse come into SAMSs hotdogs to eat every day.

"We know what they want when they walk in the door," added Brown.

Rite Aid said they decided to close the warehouse because it would cost too much money to upgrade the building. Union President Ken Hall said with the deal that has been reached, 40 employees are going to be laid off before the warehouse

closes. Everyone else at the warehouse is guaranteed 40 hours per week until the doors close. Hall said 94 percent of the workers agreed to the deal, which Hall said includes a great severance and benefits package.
