SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. (Sean Delancey) – Eyewitness News spoke with a man who was responsible for a 9-hour standoff with police Wednesday night in Putnam County.
Ricky Reynolds, 58, was arrested. His wife said she has had enough.
"I was scared," Reynolds said when asked what was going through his mind during the standoff.
Reynolds is facing multiple charges, after the standoff with Putnam County deputies and State Police.
It began Wednesday night, after police tried to pull Reynolds over after getting a call that he had hit some cars.
Police said Reynolds did not stop, leading to a chase that ended at his home. Reynolds then got out of the car, with his German shepherd, and that's when deputies said he turned his dog on them, then holed up in his house, threatening officers with a gun.
Reynold's wife, Dina Foster said this is the last straw.
"I've done everything I can to help him,” she said. “He's not going to be a part of my life."
Police shot multiple rounds of tear gas through every window in the house, leaving Foster to clean up after her husband.
"Back door, front door - everything is broken,” she said.
Foster said her husband has had a history of alcohol abuse problems.
Reynolds said he wasn't drinking before his first run in with deputies, but, as soon as he locked himself in his house, he hit the bottle.
"I started drinking when I got home,” he said. “The more cars that got there, the more I drank."
Reynolds said, now that he's out of his drunken stupor, all he feels is remorse.
"Just sorry for what I did," he said.
