CROSS LANES, W.Va. (Stefano DiPietrantonio) – A stunning and disturbing find inside a Cross Lanes birthday gift.

You can imagine a father's surprise, when he said his son found a hydrocodone pill in his new box of Legos. The family spoke exclusively with Eyewitness News.

The father, Jeremy Creathers, hung onto to both the pill and the toy, while he called Wal-Mart Corporate, trying to track down how a controlled substance like that, could have gotten into a kid's brand new toy. He believes it was a return, which somehow got back onto store shelves.

Creathers is just thankful his son Blake was not alone, when the pill came tumbling out of the box of Legos.

It was the birthday gift bombshell for Jeremy Creathers.

"Luckily, he brought it to me to open, and I got to looking and there was four empty bags in it, little WWE piece that don't even have nothing to do with it," said Creathers.

His Pre-K son Blake, asked Daddy Saturday night, what's the candy in my Legos for?

"Yeah, right here, on both sides, you can tell it's taped back up," said Creathers, as he showed us the taped-up box, the partial toy came in. The Lego City box was scotch taped on both ends and missing half of the Legos inside.

"There's one empty bag, two empty bags," said Creathers. "There's a bag that has stuff in it, but it's scotch taped shut. Got to the good part here, all these loose pieces out, then that happened to be laying there."

It was a single white pill, which plopped out onto their dining room table.

"It just blew my mind really, just blew my mind!," exclaimed Creathers. "Had M-365 right on it and I got on the internet and looked and seen it was hydrocodone 5 milligrams."

Hydrocodone is a powerful prescription pain reliever. 5mg of oxycodone is roughly equivalent to about 7.5 of hydrocodone.

"Floored me,” said Creathers. “I thought man! What is going on? Ridiculous! Jaws dropped to the floor! The more I thought about it, the more I got mad, because I just thought about him. If he'd have opened it by himself, thinking it was candy or something and then would have to take him to the emergency room, not knowing what was wrong with him and then what the doctor would have done, thinking I was feeding my son pills or something."

Creathers is convinced it was a return.

"Either somebody stole it, brought it back and got the money back or stole it from another store," he said.

The mortified neighbor, who gave the birthday gift, brought the receipt over right away. They called Wal-Mart corporate, who called him back and told him they'd looked back 6 months on their cameras and could not find any sale of that particular toy at store #2576 in Cross Lanes.

"Poor little feller. He didn't get his Legos, so we're gonna have to try and get him some more," lamented Creathers.

We were on the phone with Wal-Mart most of the evening and sent their investigators the toy's UPC symbol and a copy of the sales receipt. They hopefully can track-down whoever returned the toy and is the owner of the hydrocodone pill.

And Wal-Mart said they'd like to make it right for the Creathers and give Blake a brand new Lego set. All he has to do is go back to the Cross Lanes store, return the bum Legos, and they’ll fix him up with the real deal.
