CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) -- More than 25 churches are expected to participate in a walk and rally in the capital city that stresses anti-violence and educational and career opportunities for at-risk youth and young adults.

The Guns Down, Hands Up to Pray Prayer Walk and Information Rally is scheduled to start 6 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church, 600 Kanawha Blvd. W., according to a news release from organizers.

The rally is a follow-up event to the march that was held last month when hundreds of residents from the West Side to the East End came together in a show of unity following a wave of violence in the capital city.

Organizers hope to provide information on educational and career opportunities available to at-risk youth and young adults 14 to 25 years old.

The following organizations will have representatives on hand for Wednesday’s event to provide information and encourage enrollment: Ben Franklin Career and Technical College, Charleston Job Corps, Garnet Career Center, Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College, Family Care and Manpower.

Music by combined choirs will be provided.

For more information about the event, contact Wayne Crozier at 304-342-0059 or pastorcrozier@aol.com.
