Site of Deadly Wreck a Troubled Intersection

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Dan Matics) - The intersection of Route 60 and Washington Boulevard has become a spot of concern for some. William Thompson, neighbor, witnessed the deadly accident Monday morning.

"It scares the heck out of you," Thompson said. "This is a very dangerous road."

In the particular intersection of Washington Boulevard there is an aluminum plant, gas station and auto repair garage creating a lot of traffic. Thompson said the way people fly through this intersection, he's not surprised there was an accident.

"It's pretty nasty, It's a dangerous road!"

Huntington Police along with West Virginia State Police have stepped up their "Click It or Ticket" initiative. Route 60 will be one of the patrolled areas.




HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – Huntington police have released the name of the person killed in a multiple vehicle crash in Huntington that shut down a section of U.S. 60 for several hours.

Russell Franklin Wills, 42, of Hurricane died in the accident that occurred about 7:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. 60 West and Washington Boulevard, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department.

The crash involved five vehicles, three of which had to be towed from the scene.

Two people had non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals.





HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris, Wes Armstead) -- One person was killed and three people were transported to the hospital with injuries in an accident in Huntington.

The wreck happened about 7:45 a.m. Monday at Washington Boulevard and U.S. 60, Cabell 911 said.

U.S. 60 westbound was closed for several hours after the wreck and reopened about 11:30 a.m., an emergency dispatcher said.

The Huntington Police Department is investigating the accident.

The wreck occurred about 7:45 a.m. Monday, Cabell 911 said. Multiple people were transported to the hospital.

Westbound U.S. 60 is closed while emergency crews clear the debris from the wreck.
