CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Kera Mashek) -- One group is now raising awareness about its efforts to help keep kids safe here in the Mountain State.

The Bikers Against Child Abuse local chapter was riding more than 100 miles Saturday, getting support and funding for their cause.

The bikers rallied in Charleston, with nearly a 100 members mounting up for their ride - all to make sure victims of domestic and sexual violence have assistance in their time of need.

It was part of the Bikers Against Child Abuse International Ride, with chapters in 40 states and five foreign countries riding around the world for kids.

Kanawha county chapter president "Pipe" says the group is willing to do anything to protect kids from domestic and sexual abuse.

"We'll camp out in their front yard if we have to, and it's really just about empowering the kids so they know they are part of something bigger,” he said. “Ultimately, hopefully, some of them will either testify or be able to do what they need to do to make sure that the perpetrator is locked up and off the street."

Every group member must submit to a federal background check before joining the group.
