SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Stefano Dipietrantonio) -- A body was pulled from the river near South Charleston on Wednesday.

Crews brought the body out of the Kanawha River at the boat ramp just behind the Kroger at the Dunbar Village Plaza at about 9:30 p.m.

A fisherman found the body just after 7 p.m. while he was on his boat fishing in the Kanawha River, just east of Huck Finn’s.

From the view on land, technically the location is in Dunbar, but the South Charleston police watch the river and are handling this case

The body is that of a man police said was wearing jeans, a long T-shirt and dressed in layers. He may have been in the water for quite some time.

Police said they are checking missing persons records, tthough they said they don't have anybody reported missing, at least not in the immediate area. They are checking with area agencies to see if they can come up with an identification.

The body has been taken to the medical examiner's office, where they will perform an autopsy.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (Mamie Buoy)- Police have found a body on the bank of the Kanawha River between South Charleston and Dunbar.

The body was found near Huck Finn's Restaurant around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

At this time, it is unclear if the body is that of a man or a woman. A cause of death has also not been determined.

We have a crew on the scene. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more information.
