SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (Dan Matics) -- Two people were injured, including a firefighter, after flames ripped through a house in Summersvile, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire at the home, located on McMillan Drive, was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

A woman, the only person inside the house, was able to make it out, but when firefighters were inside the home battling the flames, one of the firemen, Jared Cruz, fell through the floor into the basement.

After some very tense moments, crews were able to get him out.

He was taken to a local hospital, then on to Cabell Huntington hospital.

The community is rallying for Cruz.

“Prayers are going out to him and his family,” neighbor Michael Phillips said. “I've known him for several years - a heck of a nice guy. It’s risky when you’re out working fires. You always take those chances to save other peoples' property."

The woman inside the home was also taken to a hospital, then treated and released.

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (Mamie Buoy, Leslie Rubin) - A Nicholas County firefighter is recovering in the hospital after he was injured fighting a fire.

The fire happened on McMillion Drive in Summersville.

The firefighter was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital with severe injuries. His name has not been released.

At this time, is unclear what caused the fire or if anybody else got hurt.

We have a crew working on this story. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more information.
