MILTON, W.Va. (Sean Delancey) -- You can find just about anything online, including some dangerous instructions on how to make homemade explosives.
Police in Milton say that's exactly how what landed one teen in juvenile detention.
The 16-year-old is accused of making Drano bombs.
They're portable explosives made with household items. The ingredients and recipeare apparently all found online with the click of a mouse.
Things are getting back to normal here in the quiet Milton community, but those living there got a rude awakening this weekend when neighbors said they stopped a teen from setting off a home-made bomb in front of his house.
Fire marshals say it's not the first time the teen accused has done something like this.
"To him he's fitting in," Melissa Wright, the teen’s mother, said.
Wright said her son heard about the explosive from friends, and that his love of science is what drove him to turn foil, toilet bowl cleaner and a soda bottle into a recipe for disaster.
Those things combined are like Mentos and soda, but with a little more pop.
"All you have to do is type it into Google and it's right there,” Mikayla O’Neal, the teen’s sister, said. “You can learn just like that."
One Google search with the keywords "Drano bomb" leads to over 44,000 results.
The videos in the search are easy pickings for bored children.
Wright's son now is facing charges of wanton endangerment and manufacturing or possessing an explosive.
"I've sat over the last 24 hours and gone through a lot of ‘What ifs,’ “ she said. “What I could have done, what I should have done"
Looking back, she said she could have reinforced right and wrong...with her son.
"We can't stop everything that's on the Internet, and our kids hear, but we can certainly communicate with our kids," she said.
