CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Mamie Buoy) - A Charleston teenager is behind bars accused of stealing a Gino's delivery driver's vehicle.

Police say they got a call around 10:30 p.m. Friday from the delivery driver saying the vehicle, a red Chevy Cavalier, was stolen from the Gino's parking lot on Lee Street West. She told police she got out of the vehicle and left the keys in the ignition while she walked into the restaurant. She said she came out a few minutes later and the vehicle was gone.

Police were able to use surveillance video from the 7-11 near the business to identify 18-year-old Matthew Gomez.

While on patrol, officers say they saw Gomez driving the vehicle near U.S. Route 119 and MacCorkle Avenue shortly after the incident. They tried to stop his car, but say he continued to drive at a high rate of speed. He later jumped out of the car on Oakwood Road and ran toward the Oakwood Baptist Church. Police were able to find him in the woods behind the church.

Gomez is charged with grand larceny and fleeing from police. He is currently in the South Central Regional Jail.
