CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin) -- A community walk took place in Charleston on Wednesday, as people hoped to send a message that they are finished with troublemakers and violence.

Community members marched to Haddad Riverfront Park on Kanawha Boulevard from East End and West Side churches to rally against crime.

Charleston Mayor Danny Jones said it's events like this that send a message to the people causing problems and crime in communities that people are watching, people care and people are going to speak up and speak out.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – A march is planned Wednesday in the capital city that calls for the end of violence in Charleston.

“Guns Down, Hands Up to Pray” was called for by the mother of Tymel McKinney, who was shot to death while he was sitting on his front porch. Three people have been arrested in connection with his death.

Organizers said they will be meeting about 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Shrewsbury Street on the East End and Grace Bible Church on Charleston’s West Side. They plan to start the march about 5:30 p.m. and proceed to Haddad Riverfront Park, where they plan a rally about 6 p.m.
