HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Dan Matics) -- Downpours have caused a flooding problem in Southern Ohio.

On State Route 93 in Lawrence County Ohio, the rain continued to come down Wednesday evening.

The road closed signs still remained. Some people are ignoring that has the water has receded from the creek.

But anytime the rain pours, people are used to being trapped and but really create a concern for one man who needed to get to the hospital but wasn't able to because of the roads.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – A flash flood watch is in effect until 4 p.m. Wednesday for portions of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

The National Weather Service said the flash flood watch is for portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio and West Virginia. The watch includes the following areas, in northeast Kentucky -- Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence. In southeast Ohio, it includes Athens, Gallia, Jackson Lawrence, Morgan, Meigs, Perry, Vinton and Washington. In West Virginia, the watch includes Cabell, Jackson, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam, Wayne and Wood.

The weather service said repetitive showers with embedded thunderstorms will continue across southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky and portions of West Virginia east of the Ohio River through at least 4 p.m.

With near saturated terrain due to previous rainfall, the threat for rapid rising river and creeks exits, capable to produce water problems along the heavier showers. This could likely produce flash flooding on small streams, creeks and low lying areas.

Eyewitness News Meteorologist Brandon Stover said depending on how much sunshine the Charleston area receives Wednesday afternoon, big storms also are possible for Charleston and east of the area with hail and lightning.
