CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Stefano DiPietrantonio) - An e-coli scare at a water company, which distributes bottled water to West Virginia, had some folks on-edge over the weekend. Now, employees at Tyler Mountain Water are trying to put rumors on social media to rest.

Tyler Mountain maintains their water is absolutely safe and that none of the bottles in-question, ever made it to the Poca facility, even though their phones rang off the hook Monday and Tuesday, people calling with questions and still stinging, from concerns during the water crisis.

Tyler Mountain Water on rumor control big time, after a shipment of 3, 4 and 5-gallon jugs of water, shipped to its Fairmont facility over the weekend, might be contaminated with e-coli.

"Of course, social media does tend to spread information like this quickly," said Tyler Mountain spokesperson, David Mashek.

Rumors spread like wildfire on social media and whenever we hear something might be in our water, our radar's goes up, given the January 9th nightmare.

"Absolutely, we understand the concern in the community in Charleston, and Tyler Mountain shares that interest as well," said Mashek.

An error at the lab, triggered fears e-coli and coliform bacteria might be in some 94-hundred bottles, subject to the recall across Tyler Mountain's service area out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from the Aqua Filter Fresh Plant, in Plum, a suburb about 15 minutes east of the city.

In northern West Virginia, those bottles reached as far south as Morgantown and Fairmont, affecting only 94 customers.

"We want to make sure people in the Charleston area know, that their bottled water supply, was never the subject of any recall notice. It was all clean," said Mashek.

Tyler Mountain said it's done more than 80 tests of its own water supply this month.

"All of those samples have come back free of any contamination," said Mashek. "Absolutely, the Tyler Mountain Water Supply is 100-percent safe!"

Tyler Mountain swapped out the water in Fairmont Monday, with those 94 customers, just so there was no question about any of the water delivered there. Again, an error found in lab testing later confirmed, there was no one was in any danger at any time.
