HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Kennie Bass) The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice blockbuster "Jesus Christ Superstar" is being presented in concert form at Huntington's Trinity Episcopal Church.

Starring tri-state stage veteran Ryan Hardiman (Jesus) and Huntington native and current Washington, D.C. stage star Chris Sizemore (Judas), "Jesus Christ Superstar" follows the meteoric rise of the center of the christian faith and his betrayal by one closest to him.

"This is the fourth time I've done the show, third time as Jesus," Hardiman said. "And we're doing a concert version which is a slightly scaled-down version of the show even though there is still acting and drama and everything you would expect."

"I've heard the show for years and I've done professional theatre for 11 years now," Sizemore said. "And this is one of the roles that I've always wanted to do. I love the show and Judas for some reason always just spoke to me and I'm very happy to finally get a chance to do it.

Director Mark Smith says he has wanted to stage this musical for a long time. His home church gave him the venue to make that dream come true.

"First and foremost it was designed as a rock show," Smith said. "But it leads so well into Easter week, Holy Week between Palm Sunday and Easter and shows the trials of Christ."

Smith says this unique concert version take "Jesus Christ Superstar" back to its origins as a musical concept piece before it was presented as a staged Broadway show.
