Man Arrested In Putnam County Shooting Allegedly Told Officers He Planned To Kill Three

TORNADO, W.Va. (Bob Aaron, Jeff Morris) -- Authorities said a man accused of shooting his uncle planned to shoot and kill his uncle, his mother and his girlfriend so they could "join his deceased father in heaven."

William Clayton Larck, 28, was arraigned Thursday during a video arraignment on an attempted first-degree murder charge and a Putnam County magistrate set bond at $750,000. He was transported to the Western Regional Jail.

A criminal complaint said that Larck was talking to his mother on the phone and became upset on Wednesday. He left the residence on Woods Drive in Putnam County near Tornado and put a .45-caliber pistol in a truck. He returned, rammed the vehicle into the house and then opened up with the pistol in the direction of an area of the home where he knew his mother and uncle sat at a table, the complaint said.

The gunfire struck his uncle, Roger Gore, who was was shot in the back of the neck and in the left arm. He is expected to survive his injuries. His condition was unavailable. He was being treated at Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.

Larck allegedly told two Kanawha County detectives about his plans to kill his girlfriend and his mother and uncle and indicated that he also planned to take his own life.

Roger Gore was shot in the back of the neck and in the left arm with a .45-caliber pistol about 7 p.m. Wednesday. He is expected to survive his injuries. His condition was unavailable. He was being treated at Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.

Putnam County deputies have charged William Clayton Larck, 28, with attempted first-degree murder. He was being held Thursday morning in the Western Regional Jail.

Eyewitness News has learned that the suspect allegedly had an argument with his mother and he was told to leave the house. He is accused of returning, ramming a vehicle into the house and then opening fire with the pistol, striking Gore twice.

ST.ALBANS, W.Va. (Katelyn Sykes) -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Department has charged a man with attempted homicide following a shooting Wednesday in St. Albans.

William Clayton Larck, 28, was being held Thursday morning in the Western Regional Jail.

Putnam County sheriff's deputies said Larck got into an argument with another man at the victim's Woods Drive home. Deputies said Larck went outside, drove his car into the victim's home and the two exchanged gunfire.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, was shot in the neck and arm. He remained in a Charleston hospital Thursday morning. His condition was unavailable.




ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (Elizabeth Noreika) -- One person has been shot, and another is in custody Wednesday night follow a shooting in Kanawha County.

It happened about 7 p.m. at 1920 Woods Drive.

911 dispatchers and Kanawha County deputies said the victim was shot in the neck and the arm but was breathing.

Deputies said the suspect took off, and was apprehended following a traffic stop at Fairview Drive and Coal River Road just outside of St. Albans. The person has been taken in for questioning.
