CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Sean Delancey) — Police made third arrest Sunday in connection with a series of shootings in Charleston.

Two men, Donte Davis and D.J. Carter, were both shot on Stewart Street on the city's West Side Sunday afternoon.

D.J. Carter was charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment for that incident.

This comes on the heels of two other shooting sprees last week.

On Monday, police responded to three separate incidents where two people and a vehicle were shot up, all on the West Side.

On Tuesday, Justin Davis and Aric Adams were arrested after police said they fired shots on Red Oak Street in retaliation for the previous day's shootings.

The arrests Sunday may not be the final straw, as police continue to investigate the tangled web of events.

A West Side mother who has lived on Charleston's West Side her entire life said the rash of shootings is tearing the neighborhood apart.

"It does bother me a lot,” she said. “There are a lot of kids on this block, so they need to stop."

This exchange Sunday came in the middle of the day, with children playing just a block away.

Another resident, Kaysey Smith of Charleston, expressed concern. She said her 12-year-old stepson "plays in these streets with all of his friends around here,"

A week-long now, this feud has left two in the hospital, four in jail and a community afraid for their lives.

Sunday's shooting happened early in the afternoon on the 1300 block of Stewart Street.

Police said two men got into a fight on the sidewalk, pulled guns, then shot each other.

Donte Davis was shot in the leg, while D.J Carter was shot in the chest. Both were taken to the hospital, but are expected to recover.

People who live in the area are rattled by it all, fed up with the recent violence in the area.

Police said victims in Sunday's shooting are related to men arrested in shootings last week along West Side hill, Littlepage Terrace and Red Oak.

"We have two in the hospital, and we have now arrested a total of four that have been involved in these incidents this week,” Lt. Steve Cooper, of Charleston police, said. “Hopefully, getting these people locked up will curb any further situations. This series of incidents is all specifically connected to the same group of feuding parties. The way to end this violence is to prosecute all of them."

Police got a tip that suspects related to the shooting were at Park Place bar a few blocks away.

They blocked off an intersection on Main Street for more than a half hour as they raided the bar with weapons drawn.

Police didn't arrest anybody in the raid.

In total, there have been five arrests in connection with the case.

Aric Adams, Justin Davis, Levi Carter, Mike Harris, and DJ Carter are all in jail, and Donte Davis is in the hospital.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Mamie Buoy) - Police are on the scene of a shooting in Charleston.

It happened in the 1300 block of Stuart Street around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dispatchers say two men have been shot. One of the victims was shot in the chest and the other was shot in the leg.

At this time, it is unclear if anybody has been arrested.

We have a crew on the scene. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more information.
