CAMPBELLS CREEK, W.Va. (Fallon Pierson) -- One local woman said the pothole problem is so out of control on her road, it's keeping her from daily activities.

Kara Workman lives on Campbells Creek Drive. She is four months pregnant and a student.

Workman said she can't go to school after the car she just bought was damaged by a pothole. She had to call a tow truck to come get her. Workman said the mechanics who inspected the vehicle told her the axle and exhaust pipe had been broken. They estimated the damage to be about$200 to $500.

The Campbells Creek resident is very upset about the safety of the road that she has to travel every day.

"The potholes are incredible, insane. They're outrageous out here," Workman said. "I would like to see something done about it because no mother, no familiy, should have to go through this. There could be an accident that could kill somebody. I just want to see the right thing done about it. We pay our taxes. I can't even get out this road. It's bad."

If her claim with the West Virginia Court of Claims gets approved, it will be August of next year before she receives a refund. All claims have to be submitted to the Legislature before December of each year.

To file a claim, call the West Virginia Court of Claims at 1-877-562-6878. Officials said it's critical to have the proper documents. You must have invoices, photographs of the damage and a declaration page from your insurance company. Other information you can provide, such as witness testimony, also is helpful.
