Huntington Police Release Name Of Fatal Stabbing Victim

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Darrah Wilcox, Mamie Buoy) -- An argument in a car turns deadly Wednesday morning in west Huntington. It happened shortly before 11:00 inside a car on W. 3rd Street between W. 6th and W. 7th Avenues.

Huntington Police Cpl. Gary Queen said, "The one guy that was situated in the back, two black males, stabbed the guy in the front seat, the guy in the front exited the car, collapsed on the side of the road, appeared to have stab wounds in his chest."

Police say a woman driving the car, with 38-year old Christopher Crawford and an unknown suspect inside. Queen said, "She drove around town. They were driving looking for something and she was taking them back to McDonalds when the incident took place."

Crawford was taken to the hospital, but died shortly after. Neighbors are stunned to see the block filled with flashing lights so early in the day.
"I was just wondering what was happening next you know, in this neighborhood. It used to be a really good neighborhood and now it's turned to crap," said Thomas Henderson.

Cpl Queen said having a suspect-- presumably armed and dangerous-- on the loose in town was also unnerving. He said, "Absolutely. This has got to be some concern, because you have an armed man that just had no value of life whatsoever stab another human being, now he's out there somewhere, and we need to find him."

Henderson said he hopes the act of violence will reinforce efforts to control crime in the city's west end.
"They just need to kind of clean up the town you know. It's got out of control," said Henderson.




HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – Huntington police have released the name of the man who was stabbed to death on Wednesday.

Christopher A. Crawford, 38, of Huntington was pronounced dead at Cabell County Hospital after he was found about 10:45 a.m. lying on the side of the street at Third Street West and 6 1/2 Alley, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department. Crawford had suffered several stab wounds.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned black male, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark jacket, jeans, and tennis shoes. Police said the suspect fled east down 6 1/2 Alley prior to officers arrival at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that suspect and victim were riding in a car that was at the scene and an altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim. Police said they believe at this time the incident was drug related. No arrests have been made yet, but investigators are following several leads and hope to have a suspect soon.

Police said it happened about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday in an alley between Sixth and Seventh avenues on West Third Street. Police said two men were sitting in the back seat of a car when one of the men stabbed the victim. Police said the victim was taken to the hospital but has since died from his injuries.

Police are still looking for the suspect. He is described as a black man, 6feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black jacket and high-top shoes.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Tiersa Davis)-- Huntington police are on the scene of a stabbing in Huntington's West End.

Cabell County dispatchers said it happened in an alley between Sixth and Seventh avenues on West Third Street in Huntington about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Dispatchers said a man has been transported to the hospital.

Huntington police are looking for a suspect.
